As we grow and age, it is very common to find ourselves wearing clothes that doesn’t feel like us anymore. This happens every time a cycle ends; whenever we start high school, middle school clothes look childish, or when we begin college and now you just want to be comfortable, or when you’re done with college and it’s time to start dressing professional, or when you have your first child and your body isn’t the same anymore. Every time a cycle ends, we’re a different person and of course, as clothes are a part of our identity, they stop feeling like us.
Don’t worry, we all go through this, some people more frequently than others, but it is natural. Now, you’re wondering, how can I reinvent myself without having to shop a whole new wardrobe? You’re in the right place!
We put together 5 tips you can add to your daily routine to improve your style day by day. This way you can play around with what you have, but make it seem like a new wardrobe.
For those who work from home, we encourage you to try some of these styling tips. It is actually easier to apply them when you’re not going out, as you can feel the freedom of no one judging your process as you improve.
5 tips to reinvent your style and look like the best version of you:
1. Take pictures of your outfits
You won’t believe how much your style can change when you start taking pictures of every outfit you wear. Since I started doing this, I have paid more attention to how certain clothes look on me and I have discovered what kind of tops and pants look better on me, not to mention the colors. It is a slow process, as it takes a few months of outfits to notice how to improve your style.
2. get inspired in something
This is such a great excersice to increase your creativity. All you have to do is find inspiration wherever you want and make an outfit inspired in it. For example, you can choose your favorite movie and make an outfit inspired in each character for 1 week, or make an outfit inspired in each song of your favorite album. No one has to know where the inspiration came from, but trust me, you will find yourself being more intentional over what you wear and you will even start having more fun when getting dressed.
3. always choose one main item
Choose one item, just one and build the rest of your outfit to intentionally make that item your main piece.
You can choose a pair of shoes or a simple tank top and then find different ways to wear it. You’ll be surprised with how many ideas you come up with. It is always easier to choose just one garment and then think of something arround it, instead of trying to find a whole outfit and ending up thinking you have nothing to wear.
4. learn what your kibbe and essences are
This is more like a life change you can make to improve the way you look.
Learning what your Kibbe Body Type is, will help you know what dressing lines look best on you. This way, whatever you put on, it will make you shine instead of making you look awkward. I mean, that’s everyone’s dream. If you don’t know what your Kibbe or style essences are, check out our quizzes and find out!
5. don’t repeat until you’ve worn everything in your wardrobe
Repeating outfits the most sustainable thing to do nowadays, and most of the time we use the same thing over and over and feel like we have nothing else to wear. This way, you force youserlf to wear every single thing you own.
This is great because you learn how to style that sweater you’ve been avoiding for years, or you can finally decide to get rid of it. Also, once you do this, you’ll realize how many clothes you already have and you’ll find out maybe you actually have a lot of things to wear!
Remember to be patient with yourself and don’t be afraid to explore the new you after a cicle ends. It is truly extraordinary to be present, keep growing, keep learning, and improve who we are day by day. Fashion can help a lot, so use it as a tool!
