What is the Gamine Essence?Â
Kitchener defines the Gamine essence as the playful dramatic with yang essence. They are still part of the sharp Yang essences but in a more youthful, boyish way. They look creative, interesting, and rebellious.Â
The clothing lines for the Gamines are usually what a little boy would wear, but it looks natural in them, not like they’re wearing a costume. Usually creative outfits, short lines, everything colorful, playful, and fun will look good on them. There is a lot of influence in toys or clothing a boy would play with or wear.
Characteristics of a Gamine
It’s important to keep in mind you don’t need all of these features to have Gamine essence. In fact, most of us have more than 3 essences, so the following information applies to someone who is a pure Gamine. Still, you might relate to some of the following characteristics. I got gamine and classic essences with a soft dramatic Kibbe body type. It all feels so contradictory and confusing!
Trying to figure out how to go about having equal essence in both Ingenue and Gamine 🙂
My mix based on the quizzes is Ingenue and Gamine (both exactly equal) and then Romantic.
So I did the quiz and apparently have Natural, Angelic and Gamine essence, but I think they’re all a bit contradictory
That’s actually quite a common combo! They tend to be quite spunky, a little tomboy with a bit of random whimsical elements to them. Someone famous that has these three essences are Renee Rapp and Billie Eilish. In their cases they mix and match those essences often depending on the look their going with.
It seems though that the natural essence is seen in their relaxed overall demeanor, minimal makeup and slightly wild hair.
The Angelic essence is in their adornment of silver or gold jewelry (sometimes quite elaborate but not large statement pieces)
And then their Gamine essence is seen in larger quantities in their rebellious clothing options, oversized and sometimes tomboyish nature. They take big risks in what they wear and sometimes look like little children wearing adult clothing, but it looks cool on them. At times in bright colors (like with Billie’s hair choices).

Ok, now it makes sense! I got slightly more Natural, and tied for 2nd Classic, and Gamine. I definitely have a whimsical nature to my “going out” clothes. But that whimsy could be anything from bright bucket hats to studded leather jackets. I’m not afraid to take fashion risks (as long as I’m physically comfortable – no heels for this girlie). Playing “dress up” is exactly how I feel wearing my favorite Fun Outfits.
