The Kibbe Body System is composed of 13 unique styles based on 5 main families: Dramatic, Natural, Classic, Gamine, and Romantic.
There are three component this system takes into consideration. Your bone structure, flesh, and face features.
Plus the balance of soft (curved) or sharp (angular) features you have. Kibbe system refers this as the Yin and Yang scale. Yin being soft and yang sharp.
You might be here after answering the Quiz, and getting your results. If not, we recommend you take our quiz before reading more about each one of these.
These are all the specific details and characteristics for each one of them:
Disclosure: There is no such thing as “what you should & shouldn’t wear”, except what makes you feel your best. However, knowing our kibbe lines can help us feel better and more comfortable in our bodies.
Dramatic
Dramatics sit on the YANG side of the KIBBE scale and have no YIN influence. They have a very elongated figure and sharp edges with the following characteristics:
- Tall, elongated, and narrow.
- Narrow frame and narrow shoulders with sharp edges.
- Long arms and legs as well as large and narrow feet/hands.
- Usually a flat bust line with a straight waistline and hips.
- Body flesh is very “skinny”.
- Prominent, sharp, and angular face features (nose, cheekbones, and jawline).
- Small eyes, thin lips.
Some verified examples are Olivia Culpo and Kiera Knightley.
Ectomorph      Mesomorph     Endomorph
When gaining weight:
They still have a defined, strong jaw. Their waist definition disappears, and look straight.
Weight tends to accumulate on hips and upper tights, but they still look tall.
The dramatic dressing lines should be clean, sharp, and straight. Minimalistic garments, with some tailoring paired in monochromatic outfits, can be a go-to for dramatics. Geometric lines are always a yes: rectangles & triangles.
Soft Dramatic
Your bone structure and facial bones are Yang dominant, but your body flesh and facial flesh are Yin.
- Height is moderate to tall.
- Large and angular.
- Long arms and long limbs. Can become fleshy in the upper arm and thighs.
- Large hands & feet.
- Fleshy in the bust and hip area.
- A moderate-sized waist that can become thick.
- Facial bones are prominent or sharp.
- Large eyes, full lips, fleshy cheeks.
Some verified examples are Barbra Streisand and Adele.
  Ectomorph     Mesomorph      Endomorph
When gaining weight:
Heaviness is usually seen at the fleshiest parts of your body: the bust, hips, waist, thighs, upper arms and especially the face.
The soft dramatic dressing lines should be long with waist emphasis. No color blocking, and more monochromatic outfits. Choosing clean and draping lines can make a beautiful difference.
NAtural
(the natural category has been eliminated from the Kibbe system as people “don’t fit” into that category anymore. However, we still consider many people still fit here.)
Dominant YANG but slightly towards the right side of the KIBBE scale with a small amount of YIN. Naturals are angular, but with less sharp edges, compared to dramatics. They have the following characteristics:
- Might look tall, and broad.
- Wide shoulders with blunt edges.
- Long arms and legs with large wide feet.
- Flat-ish bust line with a straight waistline and hips.
- Body flesh looks muscular but lean.
- Wide angular faces with blunt edges.
- Wide-spaced eyes, broad lips, and fleshy/muscular cheekbones.
Some verified examples are Jennifer Aniston, Priyanka Chopra, and Angelina Jolie.
  Ectomorph     Mesomorph      Endomorph
When gaining weight:
They still look taller than they are, and weight accumulates on their abdominal area, making the body look somewhat squarish. Their jaws get softer and their shoulders get wider.
The natural dressing lines should be unconstructed, relaxed, and asymmetric. Oversized items look great and softly tailored pieces in relaxed fabrics. Nothing too stiff.Â
Flamboyant Natural
Mainly a Natural (soft Yang) with Dramatic (extreme Yang) undercurrent. They have the following characteristics:
- Might look tall, and broad.
- Wide shoulders with blunt edges.
- Long arms and legs with large wide feet.
- Can have a flat-ish bust line with a straight waistline and hips.
- Body flesh looks muscular but lean.
- Wide angular faces with blunt edges.
- Wide-spaced eyes, broad lips, and fleshy/muscular cheekbones.
- Height is usually moderate to very tall– usually 5’5″and over. But it could also be any height– 5’5″ and shorter.
- Large hands and feet (usually somewhat wide, but they may also be narrow, with long fingers and toes).
- Broad and square bones.
Some verified examples are Emma Stone and Princess Diana.
  Ectomorph     Mesomorph      Endomorph
When gaining weight:
They tend to accumulate weight below their waist. Their shoulders will look broader too. They won’t gain a lot of weight on their chest area.
The flamboyant natural dressing lines should be unconstructed, relaxed, and asymmetric. Long, oversized items look great along with textured fabrics. Bold color combinations. Opt for soft, flowing fabrics that lengthen you vertical line. Relaxed lines.
SOFT Natural
Mainly a Natural (soft Yang) with a Yin undercurrent. They have an angular frame with body flesh and facial features. They have the following characteristics:
- Moderate height to small.Â
- Angular bones, broad shoulders.
- Fleshy upper arms and tights.
- Hands and feet can be fleshy too.
- Small waist in proportion to bust and hips.Â
- Can have a soft hourglass figure (not extreme).
- Their faces can be different depending on the person, but they will most likely be blunt, square, or irregular.
- Round eyes (but not necessarily), full lips, and their noses can be small or wide.
Some verified examples are Kat Dennings, Sandra Bullock, and Kim Kardashian.
  Ectomorph     Mesomorph      Endomorph
When gaining weight:
The body becomes very soft. Their waist loses its definition and tends to form cellulite very fast on their fleshier areas. Upper arms, tights, and hips collect the weight.
The soft natural dressing lines should be unconstructed, relaxed, and asymmetric. However, clothes should have some shape. Softly draped fabrics in natural materials are best, like cotton, linen, and silk. Add emphasis on the waist, without defining it completely.
Classic
(the classic category has been eliminated from the Kibbe system as people don’t fit into that category anymore)
Balanced YIN and YANG. They appear very symmetrical with moderate features. They have the following characteristics:
- Moderate height. Do not appear short nor tall.
- Fully straight shoulders that do not drip down
- Moderate arms and legs as well as feet and hands
- Proportional bust line and hips, with a slightly smaller waist
- The flesh on the body is not skinny but not curvy either. Very proportioned.Â
- Symmetrical facial features.Â
- Moderate eyes, lips, and flesh in the cheekbones.
Some verified examples are Isabelle Huppert and Grace Kelly.
  Ectomorph     Mesomorph      Endomorph
When gaining weight:
Depending on where you gain weight you can either be a dramatic classic or a soft classic. Dramatic classics gain weight on their hips and tights. If you gain weight proportionally on your bust, hips, and waist, then you are a soft classic.
Dramatic Classic
Mainly a Classic (balanced yin/yang) with Yang bone structure. They have an angular frame with body flesh and facial features. They have the following characteristics:
- Moderate height, but can be slightly on the taller side.

- Tapered shoulders and somewhat square, but narrow.

  Ectomorph     Mesomorph      Endomorph
When gaining weight:
They collect weight in their hips and tights, rarely on the bust line. When gaining weight it can be very obvious. Their body shape transforms into a “pear shape” the more weight they gain.
The dramatic classic dressing lines should be sharp, tailored, and straight. Look for clean symmetrical lines. Classic and timeless shapes look great on you, as well as structured silhouettes. Square and V necklines. High-quality fabrics that aren’t too lightweight or too heavy. Neutrals and deep colors with high color contrast in your outfits.
Soft Classic

- Moderate height, neither short nor tall.
- Slightly fleshy body.

- Soft arms, tights, and waistline.
- Tapered shoulders or slightly sloped.

  Ectomorph     Mesomorph      Endomorph

The body becomes very soft and the face becomes fleshy. The waist loses its definition, but they gain weight evenly in the bust and hip areas.
The soft classic dressing lines should be symmetrical, soft, and with waist emphasis. Flowing garments with draping looks great on them. The fabrics should be light to moderate weight, nothing too heavy or stiff. High-quality clothing always looks best. Prints should be small. High waisted bottoms help keep the balance.
Gamine
(the gamine category has been eliminated from the Kibbe system as people don’t fit into that category anymore.)

When gaining weight:
Depending on where you gain weight you can either be a flamboyant gamine or a soft gamine. Flamboyant gamines gain weight on their arms and waist. Their shoulders look wider, making them look square-ish. Soft gamines gain weight on their bust, hips and on their faces, but still keep their strong jawlines.
The gamine dressing lines should be fitted, small, and sharp. Fabrics should be crips and should have a matte finish. Compared to a classic, a gamine doesn’t necessarily have to bring attention to her waist, and can wear bold colors and lots of prints. Asymmetric clothing looks great too.

- Defined musculature.Â
- Angular shoulders.

The flamboyant gamine dressing lines  should be geometric with sharp corners and asymmetric. Short, chunky shapes look great. Just like gamines, bold colors and patterns look great.
Soft Gamine
Combination of YIN and YANG with a plus yin. Contrasting features.
- Short vertical line.Â
- Delicate bone structure.
- Curved bust line.
- Natural hip definition.
- Angular shoulders
- Soft and fleshy arms and legs.
- Short arms and legs.
- Small hands and feet.
- Doll-like facial features. (Round big eyes, fleshy cheeks and full lips).
Some verified examples are Lucy Hale, Sarah Hyland, Jenna Coleman, Octavia Spencer.
  Ectomorph     Mesomorph      Endomorph
When gaining weight:
The weight is collected in the bust and hips. Their arms and tights also get fleshier. The face also gains weight.
The soft gamine dressing lines should be rounded with sharp edges. Look for fitted items and always make sure there’s waist emphasis. Small, plentiful details look great too. Lightweight fabrics that can hold shape in matte finishes. Colorful outfits, and just like any other gamine, try to look for prints (in a moderate to smaller size).

Theatrical Romantic

- Very delicate and look shorter (petite)
- Sloped shoulders, with round edges
- Short arms and legs with delicate hands and feet that are small
- Usually a full bust line with an hourglass figure
- Very curvy and rounded hips (hourglass figure)
